On Saturday, February 2nd a group of like-minded artists and art lovers met with Arni Fishbaugh of the Montana Arts Council (MAC) at the ArtSpot Gallery. Arni gave an overview of the MAC, spoke about the Lively Times and State of the Arts publications, grant opportunities, and how other small towns in Montana are getting the word out about local contemporary artists, musicians, folklorists, etc.
One of the many things that came out of Arni's visit was the need for artists to have a way to communicate with other artists within as well as outside the county. ArtSpot Gallery decided to start this blogsite in the hopes that it will help foster communication, the sharing of ideas, etc.
Thank you Arni for taking the time to talk with us! Your visit inspired and energized us!

Hey all,
Isnt this cool !! what a great service Laura! thanx!!!! I'm sending in an order to Archie Bray this Thursday for clay and glaze. I have extra catalogues and shipping would be free through the school. My student teacher-Libby Anderson needs wax crayons. We'll make a deal with anyone who can help us out.
A conversation thread: I've been thinking about the the way historians use art to measure a given culture's integrity. So, who are we??? As Montanans most of us are the descendents of desperate who gave gave up their native languages and cultural traditions in order to assimilate into the American melting pot. They gave up their old culture in exchange for what??? Mickey Mouse? Hollywood? Who are we??? And as artists what should we be saying? Again thanks. Three cheers for the Art Spot, the best art gallery in all of Glasgow!!!
