January Artist Reception for Ellen Lloyd

Join us this Friday, January 8th from 4-7 pm for an artist reception for photographer Ellen Lloyd. ArtSpot is located inside Flicks in downtown Glasgow. Light refreshments will be provided.

Ellen received her first camera for a graduation present, but remembers always taking pictures with her mom’s camera when she was young. “I would take tons of pictures at family events and rarely forgot to bring the camera to other events. Along with taking pictures, I loved looking at old photos and hearing the stories that came along with them”. Now Ellen has her own photography business taking portraits, some of which can be seen at ArtSpot.

Upcoming shows at ArtSpot include the work of Leith DeWeese (February), the Valley County Youth Show (March), Jerry Jacobson (April), and Yancy Stewart (May).

To show your work at ArtSpot or for any questions please contact Laura at 526-7262 or email artspotgallery@gmail.com. You can also visit our blog at http://www.artspotgallery.blogspot.com/.

Friday, November 6th from 4-7 pm
ArtSpot Artist Reception for Toni Marie LaGree and Laura Gittings-Carlson

Join us this Friday, November 6th from 4-7 pm for an artist reception for Toni Marie LaGree and Laura Gittings-Carlson at ArtSpot. Toni and Laura, co-founders of ArtSpot welcome everyone to this free event that is open to the public. Plus treats will be served!

“When I initially thought about the process of creating and then showing my own artwork, I was terrified,” said Gittings-Carlson. “I consider myself an arts advocate and not an artist. But the resulting work was a surprise to me and I can see a progression from the first pieces to the last, which is exciting and helps illustrate one of the fundamental ideas behind ArtSpot – that everyone can create art”.

“As a partner in ArtSpot, it is an honor to create and show my work. I grew up drawing, often having teachers reprimand me for my penmanship after seeing my artistic abilities. The love of creating through visual medium has never left me,” said LaGree. “Sharing my artwork will hopefully bring joy and inspiration to others. And I want to point out that the artist in us is never done, because the ability and level you have today will be different in six months, in six years and onward.”

Works in a wide array of media and styles will be on display from November 1st through the 29th at ArtSpot, which is located inside Flicks in downtown Glasgow.

To show your work at ArtSpot, help volunteer, or to purchase any of Toni or Laura’s artwork please contact either Toni at 228-9072 or Laura at 526-7262 or email artspotgallery@gmail.com with any questions. You can also visit our blog at http://www.artspotgallery.blogspot.com/.

Plein Air - Thai Food Event

PLEIN-AIR DINING AFFAIR

Spend an afternoon painting the brilliant colors of fall along the Cherry Creek. Afterwards, relax in twilight with a decadent five course Thai dinner, served outdoors under a canopy of trees and festive décor.
Plein-Air Painting (or, painting “in the open air”) is a wonderful way to absorb oneself in the landscape. The class will cover basic composition, color mixing, working within a frame , all of which will all culminate in your own acrylic painting. This is a great class for beginners.

Thai food is created by using all five flavors – spicy, sweet, salty, bitter, and sour. The unique cuisine is beautiful to the eye and pleasing to the tongue. Half way through your Plein-Air experience, enjoy Thai appetizers, salad, and delicious beverages. After the class we’ll dine outside on Pad Thai, green curry, and mango sticky rice under a canopy of trees and festive décor.

Supplies, meals, refreshments, décor and ambience provided.
Enrollment is limited to a maximum of 10 participants.

Instructor: Toni Marie LaGree
Chef: Laura Gittings - Carlson
Cost: $150
Date/Time: Sat. Sept. 26h 2:00 - 7pm
