Wings Across the Big Sky Exhibition

In conjunction with the Northeast Montana Feather Fest, ArtSpot, Northeast Montana's nonprofit arts organization, is sponsoring a bird themed exhibition. Artwork will be on display at the ArtSpot Gallery in downtown Glasgow from May 29th through June 26th. Artwork must arrive in Glasgow no later than May 13, 2011. Submission fee is $10 for up to two works of art per artist. There will be a $100 people's choice prize awarded at the end of the exhibition. Two dimensional original artwork in all media with a bird theme will be accepted, so don't hesitate and sign up now! Ellen Lloyd at FMDH

Join us on Tuesday, March 15th from 4-7 pm at FMDH for a reception for Ellen Lloyd. The reception will be held in the dining room. Ellen is an extremely talented photographer who specializes in fun and unique family and senior photos. Check out her photos at FMDH tomorrow evening during the reception or anytime Monday through Friday from 8 am until 5 pm. Ellen's photos are located just down from the Nurse's Station. Annual Valley County High School Exhibit

It is time once again for ArtSpot's Valley County High School exhibition. This year the exhibit is truly "Fully Loaded", for the first time there is artwork representing each one of the county's high schools: Hinsdale, Fraser, Nashua, Opheim, and Glasgow. For this year's showing students created works from wire and paper sculptures to mosaics, acrylic painting, charcoal, ceramics and more. This is a tremendous display of local home grown artistry. All of the time and dedication it took each student to create their work over the past year is deserving of our support. The fine arts, especially at the high school level, is a cause worth championing, specifically in our rural area where for many students art becomes and outlet and voice of personal expression unparalleled by other school activities. Having a place for our youth to present their art is both exciting and necessary. It allows the creator to complete the cycle of creation; from the nothingness of blank page to public exhibition. And for many the step of public exhibition can be daunting. Please help us do what we can to support area youth art.

Don't miss this once a year opportunity to support our creative and artistically talented students. Join ArtSpot co-directors and participating student representatives in celebrating the 2011 exhibition at the open house and First Friday Artwalk, on Friday, March 4th from 4-7pm. Refreshments are provided. Walt Thorn February's Artist

Local artist, Walt Thorn, is exhibiting his collection of water color paintings at ArtSpot during the month of February. Walt didn't pick up the brush and palette, until he put down punching a time clock. It wasn't until Walt retired twelve years ago that painting took over as a daily passion in his life. In this first time solo show at ArtSpot, Walt's work encompasses landscapes from Montana as well as the southwest.

Join Walt for his opening reception at Flicks this Friday, February 4th from 4-7pm. Refreshments and heated indoor seating provided.

Irle School Students Artwork on Display

Take a break from the cold and warm your heart by visiting ArtSpot's January artists, the students of Irle Elementary School. During the whole month of January all the students from Irle, grades K-3 have art hanging on the walls inside Flicks, and that is a lot of gorgeous art. ArtSpot co-directors and volunteers have been working in the classrooms with the students since last August. The students have been learning the seven basic concepts of art and design. In this show each student was asked to select their favorite piece of art that they created. Stop by Flicks with your family and friends and support all of our young artists, and marvel at the range of self expression that art and creativity can produce.

December's Exhibition: Community Show

Join all your friends and neighbors on Friday, December 3rd for the Downtown Glasgow Art Walk and opening reception at Flicks for ArtSpot's Community Show Artists. The reception at ArtSpot in Flicks goes from 4-7pm and features local artwork by Pat Fauth, Suzzii Brenna, Barbara Hansen, Jason Schakosky and Walt Thorn. The artwork encompasses themes from nature, still life, abstract and decorative art. Show your support for these talented local artists by stopping into to see their work and speak with the artist in person. Treats and beverages are provided and everyone is welcome.

This is the second month of the Downtown Glasgow Art Walk, which includes both ArtSpot at Flicks and the Glasgow Goodkind Gallery, owned and operated by professional local artist Cathryn Sugg. During the month of December Cathryn will be featuring many of her own works. The Glasgow Goodkind Gallery will be open for the art walk beginning at 5pm.

Artist Reception on Friday, November 5th from 4-7 pm
ArtSpot Gallery inside Flicks

ArtSpot inside Flicks presents November’s artist Lindsay Godfrey. This exhibit will be showing through the month, from November 1st through November 29th. The opening reception will take place on Friday, November 5th from 4-7 pm; refreshments are provided.

This is Lindsay’s first solo exhibit with ArtSpot. Working with large as life canvas sizes, Lindsay’s use of vibrant color grabs the viewer’s attention, drawing them into the landscapes as if transported directly into the painting. Lindsay, a native of Montana, has been drawing and painting since she could first put a pencil in her hand, using them to broaden her perception of the world. Lindsay states, “I paint for personal expression and simply because it makes me happy. I want the joy that my artwork provides for myself to be realized by the viewer.” With nature as Lindsay’s inspiration she shares the following, “I love to manipulate the paint to imitate textures produced in nature and I am exploring the depiction of light. Natural luminosity fascinates me and in these pieces I have only begun to explore the perception of light on a flat surface.”

September 15th Open House at FMDH

An Artist Reception at ArtSpot inside Flicks will be held on the second Friday of the month, September 10th from 4-7 pm for artists Jason Schakosky and Todd Mandeville. The reception is free, open to the public, and light snacks will be served.

Jason was raised in Glasgow and has been creating art since grade school. He says “I feel as though I am an acquired taste. I operate in that gray area where people tend to tread lightly, or avoid altogether. Where there is question or concern about things in my life, I welcome it with open arms. I am not a book to be judged but feel free to read me if you get a chance”.

Jason will be at the reception on Friday. Unfortunately, Todd will not be able to attend the opening on the 10th due to a scheduling conflict. However, we invite you to come down and see his artwork along with Jason’s.

Todd has lived in the Saco area his entire life and has only been painting for about five years. His paintings are extremely realistic and detail oriented. Those on display at ArtSpot are giclee prints. Todd has won several awards with his artwork from shows and exhibitions in Montana and Wyoming. Todd says “I continue to grow and learn from each and every painting that I do”.
